Omar Samra

Omar Samra is the founder of Ultra Egypt and Wild Guanabana, one of the region’s leading adventure travel companies. He also founded a handful of businesses in the tourism, environment, and education fields, as well as a children’s charity in his late wife’s honor. Omar is the first Egyptian to summit Everest, the 7 Summits and ski to both the North and South Pole. Omar is also an Astronaut Candidate with PoSSUM. In 2017, Omar made three first ascents of Antarctica mountains and named them. He rowed 1000km across the Atlantic Ocean before capsizing in a storm. Omar is an ambassador of the Earth Shot Prize, a former Goodwill Ambassador to the UNDP, and an honorary ambassador to Nepal.

Hazem El Shamy

Hazem founded Ultra Egypt with Omar in 2018 and is responsible for birthing the first Hathor 100. Hazem relies on his experience as a mountaineer to design adventurous experiences in the wild. He holds his place as one of 12 people to climb Mt. Nirekha, and one of 30 others who climbed Mt. Kyajo Ri in the Himalayas, he also holds a number of solo first ascents in the Atlas range. As a professional alpine climber, musician, and creative concept developer, he has since left his management duties to pursue other ventures. He continues to work closely with Ultra Egypt, taking on a role as Race Director for upcoming races.


Tamer Darwish

Tamer became an avid traveler and explorer from a young age, developing a profound love and respect for nature. His passion for the outdoors has taken him on a number of exciting diving and trekking expeditions around the world. His interest in sustainable tourism inspired him to embark on his own venture of building a sustainable lodge in Heisa Island, Aswan, with the hope of replicating this model across Egypt’s most beautiful natural sites. Tamer partnered up with Omar Samra at Ultra Egypt in the summer of 2019. He’s now in charge of Hathor 100 and Qarun 66 races as Race Director.

Sherief Elabd

Sherief Elabd is an Egyptian engineer who lives in Dubai and works as a director of industry strategy and innovation team at Oracle. Sherief deeply loves adventures related to mountains, be they trail running or mountain climbing. He’s currently the record holder of the fastest run of the 3 Peaks of Egypt. Sherief climbed 15 mountains in 4 continents and recently summited Mt Everest in May 2019 and Mt. Elbrus in June 2021. He’s also climbed Ama Dablam.


Zohra Merabet

Born in Algeria during the Liberation War, then raised in France, Zohra moved to the Middle East in 1976 where Egypt became her permanent residency since 1984. Running is her passion from an early age. She is always overjoyed when she sees this sport spreading in the streets and deserts/mountains of Egypt.

Malcolm Konik

An American born traveller who, given the chance, will fly across the world to run with you. That’s how he walked into his and our first Hathor 100 in 2019, finishing first place!


He flew to Egypt to run Hathor 2020 and came in male third place.

Omar El Galla

At the age of 30, Omar decided to follow his dream of exploring the world and challenging himself through outdoor adventures. He's the record holder of the first run along the length of Egypt, running 1,500 km solo and unsupported in 36 days, averaging a distance of one full marathon a day. He cycled 6500km in 65 days; swam the length of Sinai 220km and paddled 1500 km in the Nile.
